10 Days Bird Watching Safari

Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
Breakfast, after meet our guide and after transfer to the best place for acacia-associated birds in Uganda, the park has over 300 bird species recorded making it a birders paradise. Stopover at the equator for snacks and photographs, lunch at the lodge after your check in, afternoon take a boat cruise along Lake Mburo to spot variety of birds and animals on the banks of the Lake. Evening  go for a game drive and expect birds like the rare papyrus yellow warbler, Nubian Woodpecker, Spot-flanked Barbet, Northern Black Tit, Blue-napped Mouse bird, Green-capped Eremomela, Ross’ Turacco, Red-headed Lovebird. Dinner and Overnight at Mihingo lodge/Mantana Tented Camp/Mburo safari lodge. Meal plan: H/B
Day 2: Nature Walk
Breakfast; thereafter go for a foot safari in Rubango forest. With a variety of habitats offered by the forest, it also harbours variety of bird species you should expect. Species include double-toothed barbet, narina trogon, Grey-backed cameroptera, green pigeon and harrier hawk. Lunch, retire at the lodge and take another stunning dugout canoe ride to look out for water bird and animal species. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight, Meal plan: F/B
Day 3: Lake Mburo-Bwindi National Park
Breakfast, with en-route game drive as you depart to Bwindi impenetrable national park- that supports over 340 species with Albertine Rift Endemic species known to occur in Uganda. The park is a bird watchers refuge, not forgetting that it’s also a gorilla tracking destiny.  Lunch break, reach at Buhoma birding area. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest camp, Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Camp/Bwindi view. Meal plan: F/B
Day 4: Mubwindi Birding
Breakfast, start birding along the River Ivy trail the longest trail in the park as drive to Mubwindi to search for birds like the evergreen forest warbler, Archers robin –chat, Purple-breasted sunbirds, Rufous –breasted Sparrow hawk, Dwarf- honey guide, crimson wings, Narrow tailed and slender billed starlings, and many more. Lunch at Gorilla mist camp, then take a walk along the short trail to Mubwindi to search for birds like the Waller’s starling, Black billed Turaccos, White headed wood hoopoe, the spectacular yellow billed barbets, Carruthers’ Cisticola, Bar-tailed trogon, and the localized Grauer’s Rush Warbler. Dinner and overnight at Ruhija gorilla resort/ Gorilla mist camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 5: Bwindi-Queen National Park
Breakfast, go for another search of the birds, in Bwindi and thereafter depart to Queen Elizabeth national park. Lunch break at any lodge in Ishasha sector famously known for African tree climbing lions, buffaloes, elephants, leopards and savannah birds over 600 bird species. Go for an evening birding in the crater area and the Mweya Peninsula to look out for wide spread grass land species such as croaking Cisticola, Marsh Tchagra, harriers such as Pallid and montagu’s and many others. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Lodge/Katara lodge/Mweya Hostel/Bush lodge. Meal plan: F/B

Day 6: Game drive & Boat ride
Dawn game drive to Lake Kikorongo, Kasenyi mating ground to spot animals and more birds in the park. Expect birds like Herons, Common Squacco, sacred and Glossy Ibises in the Kikorongo Area. The Kasenyi track passes through grass plains which support large numbers of stork in seasons as well as raptors such as brown snaked eagle.  Lunch and then go for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel to Lake Edward.  Expect birds such as Mongolian plovers, Eurasian Honey Buzzard, African mourning dove, Common Teal and Winged Plover, view game like hippos, buffaloes among others. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight, Meal plan: F/B
Day 7: Queen-Kibale Forest
Have breakfast; take visit to Kyambura gorge for awesome chimp trekking. This activity is awesome though the primates are un-predictable as you bird, lunch and thereafter drive to Kibale national park- a large protected rainforest that offers variety of bird species. Search as green buls, Narina’s trogon, papyrus gynolek, various barbets, woodpeckers, blue-throated roller, grey-backed black finch, grey parrot, bronze sunbird, white winged warbler, black-crowned waxbill, swamp flycatcher, and papyrus canary. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Kyaninga lodge/ Rwenzori View guest house/Chimpanzee Guest House. Meal plan: F/B
Day 8: Birding at Kanyanchu site
Breakfast; go birding in the Kanyanchu area to search for birds like the Noisy flocks of parrots, Uganda woodland warbler, African Goshawk, the majestic crowned eagle, Masked Apalis, Black necked weaver. Lunch and thereafter drive off to Murchison falls. Visit to the top of the falls to see how the calm Nile turns into the thunderous roar as it forces its self through the narrow gorge. While at the top of the falls watch out for birds like Sparrow, -weaver, Long-tailed nightjars, Brown twin-spot and many more. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Lodge/Chobe lodge/Sambiya River lodge/Murchison River lodge/Red Chili Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 9: Game drive & Boat ride
Dawn game drive to spot variety of birds and wildlife, breakfast go for a boat cruise downstream along the Nile. Get exposed to game like crocodiles, hippos buffaloes and birds like Goliath Herons, Saddle-billed stork, African Spoonbill, fulvous and White faced whistling ducks, Spur-winged Geese, and many more, Buff-bellied Warbler, Black-headed Batis, the Blue-napped Moosebird, Black-headed Gynolek, Yellow-throated Leaf love, Red-winged, White-crested Turacco Chestnut-crowned Sparrow-weaver, and double-toothed Barbet. Bird around the Paraa lodge. Retire at lodge, Meal plan: F/B
Day 10: Murchison-Kampala
Breakfast, embark on the journey back to Kampala with stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking and shoe bill bird watching while in the canoe dugout. Lunch, drive to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/Serena Hotel/Cassia lodge/Capitol palace hotel. Meal plan: F/B
